Aida Imangulieva studied at the Oriental Studies Faculty of Azerbaijan State University and held a doctorate in philological sciences, becoming the first woman to be a doctor of oriental studies in Azerbaijan. She was a highly regarded Azeri specialist on Arab emigre literature and a member of the presidium of the All-Union Society of Orientalists and All-Union Coordination Council on Eastern Literature Research. She died in 1992.
